boarding dogs swimming dogs racing dogs
This last week has been quite hectic in and around the RFCC so i will have to put everything into a nut shell we have had a lot of wonderful dogs boarding with us some like Brutus the English bulldog has been with us before others were first timers like Nova the standard poodle it is always nice to have a variety of different breeds together playing in the field. we have also done a 3 rd swim with 2 little German shepherd pups who were born with a problem that i can best describe as juvenile wobbler's (for lack of a better description ) the first time these puppies went into the hydrotherapy pool it was quite strange as every time they would kick with their back legs their heads would bob under water like a duck. it was very difficult to understand why this was happening so we had a visting Vet have a look at them and his theory is that they were born with damaged and shorter than normal nervous system causing them to pull their heads down when they extended their rear legs. we will be working with these puppies in the hope that using their hind leg muscles will help with a more normal growth in and around the rear legs and hips.and just to keep things hopping we decided that while the RFCC was been used by jill sharp of http://www.lifewithoutaleash.com/ to do a 2 day training seminar that we would take a group of people and dogs and drive down to Truckee California for a weekend of Flyball . well after an interesting trip down including a 4 1/2 hour pit stop to repair some burnt wiring we made it there it only took 18 hours of driving but who's counting .we knew it would be hot but we were surprised that it was 40 degrees even so our team of dogs performed well and we placed 1st in division 1 on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday not a bad weekend of racing in any weather. we left right after Sundays final race and drove straight to Redding California after spending a sleepless night again because of the heat. we drove 15 hours straight to make it home on Monday evening. on Tuesday morning it was back in the pool with Ben the German shepherd that has a partially torn ACL from there Toby the boxer made his 2nd visit to do some post acl surgery work in the pool and also learn a little swimming technique just to mention a few and then as if we didn't get enough flyball in on the weekend we had a practice to get ready for another tournament next weekend.
